4 men shot dead inside and next to a stationary car in South Africa

Four people were shot dead on Mthuma Street in Site C, Khayelitsha, south-east of Cape Town, on the evening of Saturday, 26 September 2026.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) Western Cape, the shooting took place at about 19:15 local time. Three of the victims – all men – were found dead at the scene, two of them inside a car and the third nearby. A fourth man died while being transported to a medical facility.

Police have opened a murder investigation and are working to establish a motive. No arrests had been made at the time of the statement.

SAPS spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut said detectives from the Khayelitsha police station are leading the investigation. The public is being asked to come forward with any information that could help identify the suspects.
