4 killed as a Russian drone hits an office building in Kyiv, Ukraine

A Russian drone strike on an office building in the Ukrainian capital killed four people and injured seven others, including a child, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Friday.

In a statement posted on X, Zelenskyy expressed condolences to the families of the victims and thanked Ukraine’s emergency services for their rapid response. Photos accompanying the post showed damage at the scene.

The same day, Russian drones also struck a warehouse used by McDonald’s, Zelenskyy reported. He described the attack as targeting “ordinary food products” and framed it as part of a broader Russian campaign against civilian infrastructure and everyday life.

“The Russians are constantly expanding their escalation operation: American and other businesses, data centers, internet providers – for Russia, ordinary life in and of itself is simply a target,” Zelenskyy wrote. “All of this undermines people’s ability to stay connected, study, and work.”

He called for a coordinated international response, saying Ukraine’s long-range capabilities and global sanctions must work together to impose “concrete consequences for Russia.”

The office-building strike occurred in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district, according to local reports. Earlier on Friday, a separate Russian drone attack on a residential high-rise in the central Pechersk district killed a 14-year-old boy and injured at least seven other people. Strikes were also reported elsewhere in Ukraine, including one death in Odesa.

Russia has intensified the use of faster, high-flying jet-powered drones against Kyiv and other areas in recent weeks. Moscow denies deliberately targeting civilians.
