Terrorist attack kills civilian near Jackigor Bridge in Rask, southeastern Iran
Armed militants opened fire on a civilian vehicle near the Jackigor (Jekigor) Bridge in Rask county, in Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province, on Monday (October 5, 2026 / 13 Mehr 1405), killing one civilian and wounding two others, according to Iranian officials and state media.
Iranian reports attribute the attack to elements of the group Jaish al-Zolm (also known as Jaish al-Adl or Army of Justice). Attackers on a motorcycle fired on a Peugeot 206 carrying three men who were heavy-vehicle drivers. The men had obtained a loading turn at the Rimdan border crossing and were returning toward Zahedan when they were targeted.
The three occupants—identified as Hamed Sayyadi, Mostafa Sayyadi, and Reza Bazi—suffered gunshot wounds to the head, neck, and abdomen. They were taken to a hospital in Rask. One of the civilians later died from his injuries.
Local officials, including Rask’s governor, and the Sistan and Baluchestan police described the incident as a terrorist attack on ordinary citizens. Iranian media and authorities said the group had recently suffered setbacks against Iranian security forces and had turned to targeting civilians. Police statements called the action further evidence of the group’s violent approach and efforts to create insecurity in the region.
Details beyond the initial reports remain limited. The incident occurred in a border area of Sistan and Baluchestan that has seen periodic militant activity.
