2 police officers killed in armed terrorist attack on patrol in Iran
Armed assailants attacked a police patrol on the BampurโIranshahr road in southeastern Iran early Monday morning, killing two officers and wounding a third, according to police statements.
The attack targeted a patrol from the Nokjo outpost under the Bampur County Police Command in Sistan and Baluchestan province. Officers were conducting a security patrol when the attackers opened fire.
Police identified the two officers killed as Second Sergeant Amirhossein Ghasemi and First Sergeant Nezam Dast-Goshadeh. One additional officer was injured in the incident. Reports indicated both slain officers were born around 2002โ2003, originally from Sari in Mazandaran province, and were unmarried.
Sistan and Baluchestan police said the attackers are being pursued, with operations underway to identify and arrest those responsible. Further details were expected to be released later.
