3 men shot dead during an early morning armed massacre in Honduras

Three men were shot and killed in the early hours of Tuesday, October 6, 2026, in the community of San Miguelito in the municipality of Quimistán, Santa Bárbara department.

The victims have been identified as Raúl Martínez, 40; Darwin Martínez, 20; and Manuel Méndez, 25. Local authorities confirmed the multiple homicide, which occurred around 4 a.m. The relationship between the three men remains unknown at this time.

Jiragni Gómez, social manager of the Quimistán municipal government, provided the information based on reports from the president of the local community board (patronato). The Police Investigations Directorate (DPI) and the on-duty prosecutor’s office have traveled to the scene to begin the investigation.

Authorities are awaiting official reports on the circumstances of the attack, and arrests of those responsible are expected.

This is the 26th massacre recorded in Honduras so far in 2026, bringing the total number of victims from such incidents to 113. The Quimistán killings occurred six days after another multiple homicide in Juticalpa, Olancho, where three young men were found dead in a residence.
