3 women killed as gunmen ambush them during a conjugal visit in Honduras

Three women who traveled to El Porvenir, Francisco Morazán, for conjugal visits with prison inmates were shot and killed inside a house near the penitentiary center in Siria, according to an official statement from the Honduran National Police.

The victims arrived in the area on Saturday to visit men held at the nearby prison with whom they had personal relationships. After the visits, they decided to spend the night in a house in the Las Acacias neighborhood, approximately two kilometers from the prison. One of the women had rented the property, while the other two were staying there temporarily.

Their bodies were discovered on Sunday morning. Police believe the armed attack took place during the night of Saturday. Two of the victims have been preliminarily identified as Yaneth and Karla. The identity of the third woman has not yet been released.

Officers secured the crime scene and are conducting interviews and investigations to identify those responsible and determine the circumstances of the killings. The statement was issued by the Secretariat of Security as Press Release SEDS No. 90-2026 on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
