2 people killed in Russian ballistic missile strike on Kyiv in Ukraine
Two people were killed overnight when Russian forces launched a ballistic missile attack on the Ukrainian capital, the Kyiv City Military Administration (КМВА) reported.
The strike caused damage in two districts. In Darnytskyi district, a missile hit the territory of a garage cooperative, resulting in a fire and the deaths of two men. Authorities expressed condolences to the victims’ families.
In Podilskyi district, a missile struck a non-residential building, sparking a fire. Debris also fell in open areas of Darnytskyi district. Emergency services extinguished the fires; the extent of structural damage is still being assessed.
Air-raid alerts sounded across the city during the night, including a red-level warning for missile threat. The all-clear was later given.
A morning update from КМВА confirmed that Russian forces used ballistic missiles against civilian infrastructure in Kyiv. As of 08:00 local time, the two fatalities remained the only confirmed deaths.
The attack forms part of ongoing Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities. Officials continue to urge residents to seek shelter during air-raid warnings.
