Man killed after Russian drone strike hits Sumy region in Ukraine

Russian forces carried out 48 attacks on 25 settlements across Ukraineโ€™s Sumy region over the past day, using missiles, guided aerial bombs (KABs), mortars, artillery and various types of strike drones against civilian areas, local police reported on 6 October 2026.

In the Velyka Pysarivka community, a 49-year-old man was killed in a drone strike.

In the Sumy community, a 44-year-old man was wounded in a UAV attack. The strike damaged a private house, a shop, an educational institution, two cars and a petrol station.

Two young children โ€” boys aged two months and one year โ€” along with a 52-year-old woman sought medical help for injuries sustained in KAB strikes on 4 October. A 59-year-old man also received treatment for injuries from a UAV attack on 2 October, and a 65-year-old man for injuries from KAB strikes on 27 September.

In the Seredyna-Buda community, three men aged 41, 49 and 29 were wounded in a mortar attack.

Police investigative-operational groups and explosive ordnance disposal specialists worked at the impact sites, surveying the areas, removing unexploded ordnance and documenting the damage. Criminal proceedings have been opened under Article 438 of Ukraineโ€™s Criminal Code (war crimes).
