2 killed as extensive drone attacks struck the Moscow region in Russia

Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov reported on Tuesday that the death toll from a large-scale overnight drone attack on the region has risen to two.

Rescue workers found the body of a 71-year-old man under the rubble of a destroyed private house in Barybino (Domodedovo district). A woman who was in the house was injured. Authorities also confirmed the death of a 20-year-old man in the village of Radumlya in Solnechnogorsk district.

Vorobyov expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased.

According to the governor, a total of nine people were injured in the attack. All are receiving necessary medical care.

The strike damaged 47 private houses across seven municipalities: Volokolamsk, Stupino, Dmitrov, Naro-Fominsk, Serpukhov, Domodedovo, and Istra.

In the village of Lobanovo (Domodedovo), four apartments in a multi-story building suffered broken windows and balcony glazing. No residents were hurt and no evacuation was required. Windows of a nearby boiler house were also damaged.

Three cars were damaged (two in Istra and one in Stupino). A small fire broke out at a warehouse site in the village of Litvinovo (Solnechnogorsk district) but was quickly extinguished.

In an earlier update, Vorobyov said air defense forces and electronic warfare systems destroyed or suppressed 185 drones over 16 municipalities during the night, describing it as one of the largest such attacks.

Emergency and utility services continue working in all affected areas. The governor said the priority is to assist residents and begin restoring damaged homes as quickly as possible, with corresponding instructions issued to local heads and relevant services.
