1 person shot dead inside an abandoned warehouse by attackers in Chile

A man was found dead from a gunshot wound inside an abandoned warehouse in the Independencia commune of Santiago’s Metropolitan Region late Friday night after attackers fired from a vehicle.

Police responded around 10 p.m. on September 25, 2026, to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Calle Cruz and Avenida Independencia. Officers discovered the victim, reported to be a man of about 30 years old, inside the abandoned warehouse (bodega abandonada) with a ballistic injury.

According to preliminary information from Carabineros, a gray vehicle carrying an undetermined number of occupants approached the site and fired several shots at the building’s facade before fleeing in an unknown direction.

The Homicide Brigade of the Policía de Investigaciones (PDI) and the Metropolitan ECOH prosecutor’s office (Equipo Contra el Crimen Organizado y Homicidios) are investigating the case as a homicide. Authorities are examining the scene and reviewing nearby security camera footage in an effort to identify the vehicle and those responsible.

No arrests had been reported as of early Saturday morning, and further details on the victim’s identity or possible motive remain under investigation.
