1 man killed as gunman shoots him in a targeted Punchbowl attack, Australia

Police are investigating a fatal shooting in a public place in Punchbowl.

About 5.50pm on Wednesday 9 September 2026, emergency services responded to reports of a man being shot in the car park of a community centre on Rossmore Avenue, Punchbowl.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene, but he died there. Officers from Campsie Police Area Command have established a crime scene.

A vehicle was reportedly seen driving away from the location after the incident. The man has not yet been identified, and no further details are available at this stage.
