3 civilians killed as army drone strikes hit Hintalo District, Ethiopia

Repeated drone strikes attributed to Ethiopian government forces killed three civilians, including a two-year-old child, and injured four others in a residential area of southeastern Tigray on September 8, 2026.

According to district administrator Goytom Tesfay, speaking to Tigray Television, the attacks began around 2 a.m. in MyShumet, near Freweyni in Hintalo District. The strikes hit a civilian residential zone.

Tesfay accused the Abiy Ahmed-led government of deliberately targeting civilians as part of what he described as an ongoing campaign against the people of Tigray.
