Russian shelling in the Sumy region of Ukraine resulted in one fatality
Russian shelling across the Sumy region of Ukraine left one person dead and 14 others injured, including children, over the past 24 hours. Russian forces targeted 19 settlements across five districts using guided aerial bombs, mortars, artillery, and various types of strike drones. According to the in the Sumy region, the casualties and damages spanned multiple communities:
- Sumy community: A 34-year-old man was killed. Three men aged 36, 27, and 58 sustained injuries. Additionally, a drone strike wounded two 12-year-old boys. The attack damaged two apartment buildings, a warehouse, a local business, a shop, a cafe, and several vehicles.
- Seredyna-Buda community: Mortar shelling injured a 73-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man. A separate drone strike wounded a 60-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man.
- Shostka community: A drone strike injured four women (aged 35, 38, 45, and 48) and a 27-year-old man. The bombardment also damaged a gas station and a private home.
Police investigative teams, bomb disposal experts, and patrol officers deployed to the impacted sites to secure the areas, sweep for unexploded ordnance, and gather evidence. National Police investigators have initiated criminal proceedings under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which governs violations of the laws and customs of war.
