2 killed as Russian forces attack multiple settlements in Ukraine
Two people were killed and two others wounded in Russian attacks across Zaporizhzhia Oblast over the past day, the National Police of Ukraine reported on October 5, 2026.
Occupying forces carried out 891 strikes on the region, including 719 drone attacks, 25 airstrikes, 145 artillery bombardments and two multiple-launch rocket system attacks, according to police.
In the settlement of Kushuhum, a Russian drone strike on a summer house killed a 79-year-old man and wounded a 77-year-old woman.
In the village of Novostepnianske, an FPV drone strike on a truck killed the 70-year-old driver and wounded a 28-year-old passenger.
Russian forces struck numerous locations including the city of Zaporizhzhia and settlements such as Kushuhum, Komyshuvakha, Malokaterynivka, Zarichne, Tavriiske, Serhiivka, Novoiakovlivka, Zhovtenke, Odarivka, Prymorske, Lukianivske, Orikhiv, Novoselivka, Mykilske, Chervonyi Yar, Yehorivka, Shyroke, Vasylivka, Yasna Poliana, Balabyne, Magdalynivka, Richne, Hryhorivka, Novostepnianske, Novoolenivka, Stepnohirsk, Pavlivka, Stepove, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novopavlivka, Preobrazhenka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Chervona Krynytsia, Bilohiria, Charivne, Huliaipilske, Hirkะต, Dobropillia, Pryluky, Staroukrainka, Kopani, Vozdvyzhivka, Kosivtseve, Nove Zaporizhzhia, Verkhnia Tersa, Ternuvate, Tsvitkove, Krynychne and Zaliznychne.
Police registered 40 reports of the consequences of the attacks. Damage and destruction affected private and multi-apartment residential buildings, a trade kiosk, civilian vehicles and other civilian infrastructure.
Law enforcement officers, together with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), are documenting the aftermath of the attacks. Criminal proceedings have been opened under parts 1 and 2 of Article 438 of Ukraineโs Criminal Code (war crimes).
Police also evacuated one man from Novorozivka over the past day. Residents seeking evacuation assistance can call the special line 102.
