2 civilians killed as Russian drone hits a home in Balakliia, Ukraine
A Russian drone strike has claimed the lives of an elderly married couple in the town of Balakliya in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported Saturday.
According to the ministry, Russian forces launched attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on Balakliya in the Izium district. The strikes completely destroyed a private residential house. Under the rubble, rescuers found the bodies of a 74-year-old man and his 71-year-old wife.
Emergency services personnel recovered the victims’ bodies while working under the constant threat of further enemy shelling.
The incident is the latest in a series of Russian attacks targeting civilian infrastructure and residential areas in the Kharkiv region.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
