4 men killed in shooting at churro stand in Guatemala City’s Zone 6
Four men were shot dead early Friday evening at an informal churro stand near 23rd Avenue and 2nd Street in Colonia Los Ángeles, Zone 6 of Guatemala City, according to municipal firefighters and local media.
The attack was reported around early evening on Friday, September 18, 2026, after neighbors heard multiple gunshots and alerted emergency services.
Municipal Firefighters (Bomberos Municipales) said paramedics evaluated four men at the scene and found them without vital signs.
The National Civil Police (PNC) cordoned off the area so the Public Ministry (MP) could process evidence, and traffic authorities warned of major disruptions while the scene was secured.
Local outlets report that family members and authorities identified the four deceased as:
- Kenneth Azael Santos, 22
- Maynor García Popola, about 25
- Yacos Alexander Catalán Popola, 20
- Anthony Josué Escobar López, about 20
Reports indicate the men were buying food at the time of the shooting, though officials have not confirmed whether they were vendors or customers.
