3 civilians killed as Russian strikes batter Kherson region, Ukraine

Russian forces launched numerous drone strikes, artillery shellings and airstrikes on settlements across the de-occupied territory of Kherson region over the past day, killing three civilians and wounding nine others, the National Police of Ukraine reported on September 20, 2026.

The attacks damaged a multi-story residential building, 16 private houses, two summer kitchens, four vehicles, a production facility at a private enterprise, a gas station, a gas distribution unit, a power line, other infrastructure and a gas installation.

Settlements under fire included the regional center of Kherson as well as Inhulets, Antonivka, Dniprovske, Zymivnyk, Kopani, Komyshany, Pryozerne, Bilozerka, Oleksandrivka, Pravdyne, Beryslav, Novovoskresenske, Novoraysk, Kostyrka, Novopetrivka, Bilyaivka, Olzhyne, Myrolyubivka, Lyubymivka, Lvivski Otroby, Sadok, Osokorivka, Novovorontsovka, Novooleksandrivka, Veremiivka, Ukrayinka, Khreshchenivka, Chervonyi Mayak, Vesele and Kozatske.

In Novovorontsovka, Russian artillery fire killed a 52-year-old woman. A 14-year-old girl and a 39-year-old woman suffered mine-blast injuries and contusions.

In Lvivski Otroby, a strike drone attack fatally wounded a 64-year-old local resident.

Near Chervonyi Mayak, an FPV drone targeted clergy from a menโ€™s monastery. A 71-year-old priest was killed. Four others โ€” two aged 51, one 31 and one 53 โ€” were wounded and evacuated to hospital by police.

In Khersonโ€™s Korabelnyi district, artillery shelling left a 66-year-old man with a contusion, blast injuries and a closed traumatic brain injury. Three private houses and a car were damaged.

A 69-year-old woman sought medical help after her condition worsened; she had sustained mine-blast trauma and a contusion in an artillery attack on Komyshany two days earlier. Police also took a 71-year-old woman to hospital, where doctors found blast injuries from a guided aerial bomb that struck central Kherson on September 18.

In the Central district of Kherson, a missile struck an industrial area; no casualties were immediately reported, and the consequences are still being assessed. Occupying forces also hit a non-operating educational building in Novoraysk with four guided aerial bombs.

Additional drone and artillery strikes caused further damage to vehicles, homes, a gas station, infrastructure and other civilian objects across the region.

Police investigators in Kherson region opened 10 criminal proceedings into the war crimes committed by Russian military personnel. Forensic experts, explosives technicians and investigative teams, along with other emergency services, worked at the impact sites.
