2 people killed in Ukraine drone attack on Russia’s Samara region
Two people were killed in the Samara Region of Russia following a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack on the area, which lies approximately 1,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Regional Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev stated on Friday, October 30, that the victims were emergency workers who died while clearing the aftermath of the strikes.
The attack involved a record number of drones launched toward the region, targeting civilian and industrial infrastructure. Russian air defense systems reportedly intercepted dozens of unmanned aerial vehicles over Samara, though some caused damage on the ground. The strike is notable for its depth inside Russian territory, with military analysts indicating the drones were launched from border areas.
The incident occurred amid a wider exchange of overnight aerial strikes between Russia and Ukraine. While Ukrainian officials reported casualties in Kyiv from Russian attacks, the Samara fatalities mark one of the deepest successful strikes attributed to Ukrainian forces in the ongoing conflict.
