One dead at Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant in drone strike in Ukraine
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reported that an employee of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) in Ukraine was killed in a drone attack on Thursday. The victim was reportedly a welder working at the plant's centralized repair workshop.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated that any attack on nuclear plant staff is "completely unacceptable" and violates the Seven Indispensable Pillars for Nuclear Safety and Security during an armed conflict. He renewed his call for maximum military restraint to help prevent the risk of a nuclear accident during the conflict.
The IAEA did not provide further details regarding the circumstances of the attack or who was responsible.
