5 officials were killed in two separate shooting incidents in Pakistan
Five officials, including four from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), were killed in two separate firing incidents in Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Ziauddin Ahmed, armed men opened fire on a vehicle near Abhaya Bridge (also referred to in some reports as near Qureshi Mor), killing four FBR personnel. Two of the slain officials were permanent FBR employees and two were on contract. Their bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital. Police launched a search operation in the area to arrest the perpetrators.
In a separate attack, unidentified gunmen fired on a traffic police mobile van near Bannu Road (also reported near the Mufti Mahmood Chowk bypass or Gulistan Chowk area). One traffic police official was martyred and another was injured. The injured officer was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police said the FBR personnel and traffic police were targeted while on duty. Security has been tightened in DI Khan city and its surroundings following the incidents.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep concern over the recent terrorist incidents in Dera Ismail Khan. He conveyed sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of the four customs (FBR) officials and one traffic official, stating that operations by law enforcement agencies against terrorist elements would continue with full force until terrorism is completely eliminated.
The attacks occurred amid a reported rise in militant violence in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. No group had immediately claimed responsibility, and investigations were underway.
