Security guard killed during a militant raid on a camp in Pakistan

Armed militants attacked a road construction company’s camp in the Nana Sahib Ziarat area of Duki district on Saturday, killing one security guard, injuring another, and abducting 18 labourers, according to security sources and local reports.

The assailants, described by Pakistani sources as linked to the group referred to as Fitna al-Hindustan, stormed the camp. An exchange of fire broke out with the security guards present. One guard was killed in the shooting and another was critically wounded. The attackers then took 18 construction workers from the site and fled.

Security forces, including police and other agencies, have launched a search operation in the surrounding areas to recover the abducted labourers and track down those responsible. The operation was ongoing as of the latest reports.

Some contemporaneous accounts of the same incident in Duki reported slightly different figures, including 12 workers abducted, additional injuries, and damage or arson involving machinery and vehicles at the camp. Details such as the exact number of victims and the full extent of the damage were still being clarified.

Duki district lies roughly 315 kilometres northeast of Quetta, the provincial capital. Attacks targeting construction workers and development projects have occurred periodically in parts of Balochistan.
