2 women killed as gunmen shoot them in a residential area, Guatemala

Two women died after being shot in an armed incident in Zone 13 of Guatemala City, municipal firefighters reported early Wednesday.

The attack occurred at the intersection of 28th Street and 13th Avenue in the Santa Fe neighborhood. Medical emergency technicians from the Municipal Fire Department located the victims with gunshot wounds. Both women later died from their injuries.

The victims were identified as Olga Carolina Esquite, 43, and Natali Nicolas Esquite. Guatemala’s National Civil Police (PNC) took control of the scene and is handling the investigation.

The Municipal Fire Department shared the information in a series of posts on X, including photos and video from the scene. No further details on a possible motive or suspects have been released.
