One person killed following shooting incident near Estádio Tiberão in Brazil
One man was killed and another wounded in a drive-by shooting near Estádio Tiberão in Floriano, Piauí, on the night of 29 October, according to local reports citing Piauí Military Police. The fatal victim was identified by local outlets as Isac Francisco Macedo Barros, a state traffic department (Detran-PI) employee.
The shooting occurred at about 10:16 p.m. on Rua Valentim Leão, in the Tiberão neighborhood, close to the stadium. Police said two suspects riding a motorcycle approached four young men sitting on a sidewalk and fired several shots before fleeing.
Barros was struck by two bullets and died at the scene. A second man, identified in reports as João Paulo or by the initials J.P.B. de O., was also hit, taken to Hospital Regional Tibério Nunes, and was reported to be out of danger after surgery to remove the projectile.
Piauí’s Civil Police and forensic teams were called to secure and process the scene; the victim’s body was removed by the state medical examiner’s office. Authorities had not announced a motive or identified suspects in the initial reports, and the case remains under Civil Police investigation.
Local reporting said Barros was about 30 years old, worked at Floriano’s Detran office, and had no known criminal record. One outlet reported that the wounded man had prior police records linked to suspected drug trafficking, while stressing that police had not confirmed any connection between those records and the attack.
The suspects’ identities, whether the shooting was targeted, and the motive had not been publicly established in the available local coverage. Reports also differed slightly on the wounded man’s name and medical status, so those details should be treated as preliminary until police issue an update.
