4 killed as a man shoots his relatives over a family feud in Kapisa, Afghanistan

Afghan security forces have arrested a man suspected of fatally shooting four members of a single family in Tagab district of Kapisa province, officials said.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on the night of September 20–21, 2026, in Babarkhwaja Badrab village. The victims were identified as Gul Babo, 50; Hajat Bibi, 30; Basnar, 22; and Rafiullah, 12. All four belonged to the same family and were killed in a Kalashnikov attack. Authorities linked the shooting to a family dispute.

Police initially identified the suspect as Omarzada (also referred to as Omar), approximately 50, son of Shahzada and a relative of the victims. He fled the area after the attack.

Security officials reported that the suspect was detained a few hours later in the Darm Darm area between Tagab and Alasay districts. A Kalashnikov rifle was recovered from him. During preliminary questioning, he confessed to the killings of the four people. Further investigations into the case are continuing.

The arrest was announced by Afghan media outlets, including 1TV News, which shared video footage appearing to show the suspect in custody.
