3 men killed as gunmen shoot four inside a house in Phumleni, South Africa

Police in the Western Cape are investigating a triple murder and attempted murder after a shooting at an informal dwelling in Phumleni, Lingelethu-West, on Sunday night.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), officers responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 22:20 on 20 September 2026. They found four men with gunshot wounds inside a dwelling in the NB63 area. Three of the victims, aged between 27 and 36, were declared dead at the scene. A 38-year-old man was taken to a medical facility for treatment.

Serious Violent Crime detectives are leading the investigation into the circumstances of the attack. Forensic experts are examining the crime scene, and investigators are following available leads. No arrests have been made.
