2 men killed as unknown suspects shoot them at a truck stop, South Africa

South African Police Service (SAPS) investigators in Musina are probing a double murder after two men were fatally shot at the Limpopo Truck Stop in Beitbridge late on Sunday evening.

According to a statement from the SAPS Limpopo, the incident occurred at approximately 21:00 on 13 September 2026 within the Musina policing area. Police responded to reports of a shooting and found two African males, aged 51 and 32, lying next to a Toyota Wish vehicle bearing Zimbabwean registration plates. Both victims had sustained gunshot wounds to their upper bodies.

Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived at the scene and certified the men dead.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear and form part of the ongoing investigation. Police later recovered an unlicensed 9mm firearm with no serial number. The weapon was discovered after the vehicle was handed over to the wife of one of the deceased. It contained a magazine loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition. An additional enquiry docket has been opened in connection with the illegal firearm.
