2 civilians killed in Russian attacks on Kharkiv region, Ukraine
Russian forces continued shelling civilian areas in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region over the past day, killing two people and injuring eight others, including a child, according to the National Police of Ukraine.
Occupying forces struck the city of Kharkiv and settlements in the Kharkiv, Lozova, Izium, Kupiansk and Bohodukhiv districts using missiles, drones and guided aerial bombs targeting civilian infrastructure and residents.
In the city of Lozova, a massive attack damaged railway infrastructure, multi-story residential buildings, a private house, a vehicle and a garage. A fire broke out at the scene. Three civilians were wounded and one woman was killed. Her identity is being established.
Early on September 21, Russian forces struck the village of Katerynivka. A hit on a private residential house killed one woman and injured a 13-year-old boy.
Other incidents reported by police include:
- A drone strike on a civilian car in Vyshneve village, Lozova district.
- A drone attack on an agricultural firm in Orilka that destroyed a farm building and storage facilities, damaged power lines and killed livestock.
- A drone hit on a cargo truck on the road between Martove and Borshchova villages in Chuhuiv district that injured a 37-year-old driver, who was taken to a Kharkiv hospital.
- Damage to a grain storage warehouse in the Pechenihy community.
- A drone strike on a vehicle in the town of Derhachi.
- A drone attack in Myrne village, Kupiansk district, that damaged a vehicle and garage and injured one man and two women, who received medical assistance. Warehouse buildings also caught fire and a gas station was damaged.
- Strikes on the settlement of Zolochiv that damaged shops, an administrative building, a garage, a car and a children’s playground.
- A drone strike on Dovzhyk village that damaged residential houses.
- Shelling of the city of Izium that damaged a house.
- Damage to vehicles in the villages of Horokhovatka and Zalyman.
Police conducted seven crime scene examinations on September 20 and opened 15 criminal proceedings related to Russia’s armed aggression. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, investigators in the Kharkiv region have registered information on 32,760 war crimes committed in the area.
