2 civilians killed as Russian strikes hit a business center in Kyiv, Ukraine

Russian forces launched a sustained drone attack on the Ukrainian capital on Wednesday morning, killing at least two people and injuring more than 20 others, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU).

In an official update, SESU reported that preliminary figures showed two deaths and around 20 injured from the morning strikes. The agency later revised the number of wounded upward to 37 as emergency crews continued operations across the city.

The attacks hit multiple districts. In Holosiivskyi district, a drone struck a five-story business center. In Solomyanskyi district, a strike damaged an unused structure. In Darnytskyi district, a non-residential building was hit. Fires broke out at several sites, including gas stations, warehouses and other non-residential buildings; all fires were later extinguished by emergency services.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and other local officials confirmed the casualties and noted impacts on railway infrastructure, petrol stations and commercial facilities. Ukrainian Railways said the city’s main stations were not damaged but reported delays to passenger trains and at least one injured railway worker.

The strikes came hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with U.S. President Donald Trump. No immediate comment was available from Russian officials regarding the specific targets.

Emergency services continue to assess damage and assist the injured. Residents were urged to remain in shelters during ongoing air alerts.
