2 killed as police foil a major suicide bomber plot in Peshawar, Pakistan

Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa successfully thwarted a major terrorist plot on Thursday after the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted an intelligence-based operation targeting suspected suicide bombers in the Garhi Sherdad area of Warsak Road.

According to an official statement from KP Police, credible intelligence indicated the presence of three suicide bombers. CTD personnel launched the operation based on this tip-off. During the ensuing exchange of fire, one CTD jawan was martyred and three others were injured. In the retaliatory action, one terrorist was killed.

Local reports confirmed that a joint police and CTD team carried out the raid in Garhi Sherdar (also referred to as Garhi Sherdad) after receiving information about militants in the area. One of the injured officers later succumbed to his wounds, while the remaining two injured personnel were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, where they were reported to be out of danger.

The operation prevented what authorities described as a significant potential attack in the provincial capital. Further details regarding the identity of the killed terrorist, recovery of weapons or explosives, or the status of the remaining suspects were not immediately released in the initial police statement.
