Suspect shoots police constable during raid in Sargodha, Pakistan

A Punjab Police constable was killed in the line of duty after being shot during a raid to arrest a wanted murder suspect in the Kot Momin area of Sargodha district.

According to official accounts from Punjab Police, officers from Kot Momin police station conducted an operation on September 23, 2026, to apprehend the accused, identified as Kashif (also referred to as Kashif alias Kashi or Kashif Rajput). Upon seeing the police party, the suspect opened fire. A bullet struck Constable Fazal Ahmed of Sargodha Police in the chest.

The wounded officer was immediately shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for treatment. He succumbed to his injuries on September 24, 2026.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Karim paid tribute to the constable’s sacrifice, stating that Punjab Police stands with the martyr’s family and will ensure their welfare and support. District Police Officer (DPO) Sargodha Tauqeer Muhammad Naeem also honored Constable Fazal Ahmed, describing him as a brave officer and a source of pride for the force, and affirmed that the department prioritizes care for the families of fallen personnel.

Police said special teams have been formed to arrest the suspect, who remains at large. The incident was reported by the official Punjab Police account and confirmed in local police statements.
