1 cop killed as unknown miscreants shoot him at a market in Bannu, Pakistan

An Elite Force police constable was martyred on Monday after unidentified gunmen opened fire on him in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Constable Ahmadullah (also referred to as Ahmed Allah Shah) of the Elite Force was present at a shop in Peepal Bazaar, Daud Shah, when armed assailants targeted him. He sustained critical gunshot wounds and embraced martyrdom at the scene. The attackers managed to flee.

A large contingent of police reached the area, cordoned it off, and launched search and patrol operations to track down the perpetrators.

The funeral prayers of the martyred constable were offered with full state honours at Bannu Police Lines. The ceremony was attended by SP Investigation Muhammad Tahir Shah Khan, SP City Salahuddin Kundi, SP Headquarters Muhammad Nawaz Khan, SP Traffic Warden Saif-ur-Rehman Khan, SP Elite Force Bannu Region Major (R) Rahatullah Khan, Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Allah Nawaz Khan, other police officers and personnel, as well as the martyrโ€™s family members.

Police officers laid floral wreaths on the national flag-draped coffin, presented a salute, and offered special prayers for the forgiveness and elevation of the martyrโ€™s ranks.

The family of the martyred constable was assured that the individuals involved in the attack would be traced and brought to justice at the earliest.

Following the funeral prayers, the body of the martyr was sent to his ancestral area with full state honours.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Rahmat Ali described the constableโ€™s martyrdom as a tragic loss and paid tribute to his sacrifice, stating that the incident would not weaken the resolve of the police force.
