3 killed in knife attack as tension grips Saran’s Parsagarh Bazar area in India
A bloody knife attack late Saturday night in Parsagarh Bazar under Ekma police station limits in Saran district left three young men dead and another critically injured. The violence also spilled over to a local hospital, heightening panic in the area.
According to police and local reports, the clash erupted between two groups in the market on Saturday night. The injured were first taken to a private hospital of Dr S Kumar in Ekma, where a second round of stabbing occurred. Two of the wounded were later referred to Chhapra Sadar Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. One person died at or near the scene, bringing the death toll to three. The fourth injured youth was referred to PMCH in Patna for advanced treatment and remains in critical condition.
The deceased have been identified as Mukesh Kumar Yadav (25), son of Dhruv Yadav of Jiratopur (Ekma police station area); Ramesh Yadav (around 35), son of Vijay Yadav of Pachaur/Pachhua village; and Ankur Kumar (also referred to as Ankur Patel alias Dhoni, around 22), son of Bala Prasad of Kashi Bazar/Ratanpura under Bhagwan Bazar police station in Chhapra. Ankur was reportedly visiting relatives in the area.
Police said a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. Six people have been detained for questioning. Senior Superintendent of Police Roshan Kumar confirmed the deaths and the ongoing probe, stating the exact cause of the clash is still being ascertained. Preliminary accounts from villagers and some reports point to an old rivalry, with some media citing a dispute over a soil-filling contract that had been simmering for about six months. Police have so far refrained from confirming a specific motive.
The incident has created an atmosphere of tension and fear in Parsagarh Bazar and surrounding villages. Additional police forces have been deployed to maintain order. Bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
The incident is the latest in a series of violent clashes in the region and has drawn local concern over law and order. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
