1 soldier shot dead by separatists in an early morning ambush in Cameroon

A Cameroonian soldier was killed early Saturday morning in an attack attributed to separatist fighters in the village of Sho, located in Belo Subdivision of Boyo Division in Cameroon’s North West Region.

According to local sources, the incident took place around 4:15 a.m. after residents reported hearing heavy gunfire in the area. The soldier was reportedly shot while leaving his position to use the toilet. The attackers seized his rifle before fleeing the scene.

The identity of the deceased soldier has not yet been released, and additional details about the circumstances remain limited.

Belo and other parts of Boyo Division have experienced repeated clashes between government forces and armed separatist groups since the outbreak of the Anglophone conflict in Cameroon’s English-speaking regions in 2016.
