Woman killed by a Russian drone strike on a high-rise building in Ukraine

Ukrainian police are documenting the aftermath of the attack by the strike UAV (БпЛА). The drone struck the upper floors (around the 24th–25th levels) of the multi-story apartment building overnight or in the early morning hours. A fire broke out on those floors covering roughly 120 square meters and was extinguished by emergency services; structural damage measured about 40 square meters.

Rescuers from the State Emergency Service (DSNS) evacuated several residents, including the two injured who were handed over to medical teams, and recovered the body of the deceased woman. Six other people were also evacuated from the building. No further details on the identities or conditions of the injured have been widely released in initial reports.

The Kyiv City Military Administration (KMVA) and Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the casualties. Investigators have opened a criminal case under Article 438 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code (violation of the laws and customs of war that caused a person’s death). The probe is being handled by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.

This strike occurred amid a broader overnight Russian drone attack on the capital that also targeted the Southern Bridge for a third time, leading to temporary closures of several bridges for public transport. Debris from other drones damaged windows and vehicles in the Holosiivskyi district.

Police continue to record evidence of the attack on civilian infrastructure as part of ongoing documentation of war crimes.
