1 man beaten to death with clubs over drug debts in a spa in Taiwan

A mass brawl at a shuttered wellness center on Baotai Road in Kaohsiung’s Fengshan district left one man dead and two others wounded by Monday morning, local media reported.

Early on September 28, four men arrived by car at a SPA/wellness venue on Baotai Road (寶泰路), armed with sticks or batons, and triggered a violent clash inside the premises, according to a Yahoo News Taiwan report citing police and on‑scene accounts.

One victim suffered a depressed skull fracture and later died in hospital; two other men, aged 52 and 51, sustained multiple stab wounds to their limbs and were in a coma at the time of reporting.

Officers from the Fengshan Police Station (鳳山警分局) rushed to the scene and found evidence of a bloody melee; investigators suspect a utility knife (box cutter) may have been used as the weapon.

Police have formed a special task force, are reviewing surveillance footage and hunting for the suspects, while reconstructing the victim’s movements after he reportedly ran out to a nearby street in Qianzhen before collapsing.

The building had operated as a “wellness center” but was closed down in late August; upper floors are rented out as rooms, according to the local report.
