1 soldier killed as Jaime Martinez rebels attack army in Cauca, Colombia

Colombia’s Third Division of the National Army reported that troops from Mountain Battalion No. 8 were shot at by members of the GAO-r Jaime Martínez structure in La Salvajina, Suárez municipality (Cauca).

Soldier Sergio Arley Ulcue Campo, who was serving his military service in the area, was killed in the attack. The Army condemned the incident as a “criminal action,” said it would refer the case to the competent authorities for investigation, and added that troops continue military operations in the sector to protect civilians and locate those responsible.
