Prominent businessman and his wife shot dead by motorcycle gunmen in Uganda

A prominent Kisoro businessman, Africano Nteziyaremye, and his wife were shot dead in the early hours of Sunday, October 18, 2026, by unidentified assailants at the gate of their home in Zindiro Village, Northern Division, Kisoro Municipality.

Nteziyaremye, who operated a major business opposite Baby Coach along Mosque Road in Kisoro Municipality, was returning home with his wife in their Toyota pickup truck after leaving their business premises when the attack occurred shortly before midnight. According to preliminary reports, the assailants were travelling on a motorcycle when they opened fire on the couple's vehicle as it arrived at their gate.

Police had not released an official statement at the time of publication. The motive behind the shooting and the identities of the assailants remain unknown, and investigations are ongoing.
