RSF attack kills 11 displaced people near Chad border in West Darfur in Sudan
Sudanโs paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) killed at least 11 internally displaced people and wounded dozens more in an attack on Hajar Sanakeet, a border settlement in the Sirba locality of West Darfur state, according to Darfur Regional Government health and social welfare minister Babiker Hamdeen. The assault occurred on Saturday near Sudanโs border with Chad.
Hamdeen said most of the victims were women and children. He said the residents had fled to Sanakeet over the past year after RSF fighters burned their villages of Narouma, Karmaliya, and Gagrumba, looted property, and forced people toward the frontier.
The RSF could not immediately be reached for comment. The border area has seen repeated clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and allied joint forces and the RSF, while fighting has pushed thousands of civilians into Chad and worsened the humanitarian crisis.
