3 killed as a man murders a woman and two kids in Rotorua, New Zealand

A homicide investigation is underway after three people — a woman and two young children — were found dead at a house on High Street in Glenholme, Rotorua, New Zealand.

Emergency services were called to the address shortly before 10:30pm on Monday night. On arrival, police and ambulance crews found a woman with life-threatening injuries and two young children already deceased. Despite extensive efforts by responders, the woman also died at the scene.

Police are treating all three deaths as homicides. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

A man was located at the address and is assisting police with their enquiries. Authorities say they are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.

Bay of Plenty Acting District Commander Inspector Logan Marsh described the event as “incredibly traumatic” for everyone involved. He said the focus is now on supporting the family, first responders, and determining exactly what occurred.

A scene guard remained in place overnight, and a detailed forensic examination began on Tuesday. The examination may continue for several days. Police will maintain a visible presence in the area while enquiries continue and will carry out additional reassurance patrols in Glenholme and the wider community in the coming days.

Out of respect for the victims and their family, police have asked the public to refrain from speculation. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
