Body of missing J&K special officer found with head injuries in India
The body of a missing Special Police Officer (SPO), identified as Bashir Ahmad, was found near his residence in the Trigam area of Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday, a day after he went missing on Thursday morning.
Ahmad, who was posted at the Pedil police post, had visible injury marks on his head, and his service rifle was recovered from behind his house. He had gone missing along with the rifle, prompting police and security forces to launch a massive search operation.
Three persons have been detained for questioning in connection with the death. Police suspect criminal activity and believe Ahmad may have been murdered, though they have ruled out any terror angle.
Preliminary investigation suggests a land dispute could be the reason behind the killing, but police said they do not want to jump to any conclusion until the investigation is complete. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
