Russian drone strike on Khmelnytskyi apartment building kills 2 women in Ukraine
A Russian drone attack on a residential building in Khmelnytskyi, western Ukraine, killed two women, authorities said on 19 October 2026. The victims were born in 1926 and 1954, according to Serhii Tiurin, head of the Khmelnytskyi regional military administration, who announced the deaths on Facebook.
The strike triggered fires in two apartment buildings in the city. Two people were hospitalised and another received medical treatment at the scene, Tiurin said. Rescue workers and emergency services operated at the site throughout the day.
Search-and-rescue operations concluded tragically after the body of the second victim was recovered, Tiurin said. The same day, Russian drone attacks damaged an enterprise in Khmelnytskyi, causing a fire, and struck an energy facility, leaving a large number of consumers in the region without electricity.
