Russia strike on Nova Vodolaha central park kills 6 civilians in Ukraine
A Russian drone attack on a central park in the town of Nova Vodolaha in Ukraine's Kharkiv region killed six people, including three children, and injured 15 others, Ukrainian officials said. The strike occurred around 4:30 p.m. local time on Monday when the park was crowded with families.
Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi said the dead included two women and an infant in a stroller, while seven of the wounded were children. Kharkiv Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov later confirmed the death toll had risen to six, with three children among the fatalities. President Volodymyr Zelensky identified the infant as Angelina, just over a year old, and said her mother died in the hospital.
Ukrainian prosecutors said preliminary information indicated the strike was carried out by a Geran-3 type UAV. A pretrial investigation has been opened into a war crime. The attack also damaged a café building in the park, according to the Prosecutor General's Office.
