Woman killed as Russian missiles and drones strike Ukraine capital Kyiv

A Russian overnight attack on Kyiv killed a 21-year-old woman and injured eight other people, Ukrainian police said on 19 October 2026. The strikes involved missiles and drones and hit multiple districts of the Ukrainian capital.

In Kyiv's Desnianskyi district, a non-residential building was destroyed, killing the young woman and injuring three people. In the Solomianskyi district, debris damaged a 25-storey residential building, injuring five people aged between 21 and 77.

Police said the attacks also damaged apartment blocks, a metro station, cars, offices, an educational facility, shops, petrol stations and a shopping centre. The Kyiv police communications department is documenting the consequences of the attack.
