Taxi driver stabbed to death beside his vehicle in Remedios, Panama
Einar Jované, a 31-year-old taxi driver, was found dead late Monday night after being stabbed multiple times in the community of Santa Lucía, in the district of Remedios, Chiriquí province, Panama.
Authorities received an emergency call around 10:00 p.m. reporting a person who appeared to have been stabbed and was lying lifeless next to a taxi. The victim sustained seven stab wounds to the neck, face, and right side of the chest. The body was located inside the taxi, which was parked facing the wrong direction on the road with its lights still on. Local residents had not heard any disturbance and only noticed the unusual position of the vehicle before checking and discovering what had happened.
Jované, originally from Silimín in the district of San Félix, worked in selective passenger transport for the SICOCHI taxi stand in San Félix, serving the Oriente Chiricano region. He had picked up a fare in San Félix bound for Santa Lucía, where the attack occurred.
National Police units and the Remedios Prosecutor’s Office have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the killing and identify those responsible. No arrests have been reported, and a clear motive has not yet been established. Robbery appears unlikely, as the driver’s earnings from the day’s fares were found inside the vehicle.
The case remains under active investigation.
