Kenya police officer shot dead at Kitui training camp by colleague

A police constable was fatally shot at the Wikithuki Border Patrol Unit Training Camp in Tseikuru, Kitui County, Kenya, on Sunday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Constable Raphael Ojiambo, who sustained a gunshot wound to the chest during the incident reported at approximately 3:00 p.m.

The suspect, identified as fellow Constable Hussein Yusuf Ali, allegedly fled the camp following the shooting. Both officers had recently graduated and were undergoing induction training at the facility at the time. Police recovered two G3 rifles at the scene—one issued to each officer—though no spent cartridge cases were found.

Authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who had not been apprehended as of Monday morning. The motive remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading to the shooting.
