Jordan church attack targeting funeral procession leaves 6 people dead

At least six people were killed on Friday when unidentified gunmen opened fire at a church in Jordan's southern Karak governorate, authorities said.

The attack occurred during a funeral procession at the Greek Orthodox Church of Hammoud, according to the kingdom's Public Security Directorate.

Two assailants arrived in a vehicle and began shooting at the gathering before fleeing the scene.

Jordanian security forces have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators and are investigating the circumstances of the assault. Government spokesman Mohammad Al-Momani stated that verified information would be released as the inquiry progresses.
