Man dies following fatal assault in Dublin's Blackhorse Avenue area in Ireland

Gardaí have launched an investigation after a man died following an assault in the Blackhorse Avenue area of Dublin in the early hours of this morning. The man was found with serious injuries on a footpath at Blackhorse Place and was taken to the Mater Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The scene has been preserved for a forensic examination, and the Office of the State Pathologist has been notified, with a post-mortem examination to be arranged. A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the case, and an incident room has been established at Bridewell Garda Station. Gardaí are conducting door-to-door inquiries and gathering CCTV footage.

Investigating officers have appealed for witnesses, particularly anyone who was in the Blackhorse Avenue or Blackhorse Place area, or who has video footage including dash-cam, between 2am and 3.30am this morning.
