Tricimoto driver killed in armed attack in southern Guayaquil, Ecuador

A tricimoto driver was killed in an armed attack on Avenue Ernesto Albán in southern Guayaquil at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026, according to the newspaper Extra.

The victim was transporting passengers before the attack. As he was dropping them off a few meters from a medical office, armed individuals intercepted him and fired several shots. He died at the scene beside his vehicle, and police later removed the body.

The passengers aboard the tricimoto were not harmed but experienced moments of fear, as did bystanders nearby. Police collected approximately six ballistic evidence items at the scene, while the man's relatives arrived and watched the police work in dismay.
